A Buddhist Halloween Weekend: Ghosts, Ritual & Culture
A Buddhist Halloween Weekend: Ghosts, Ritual & Culture

What place do ghosts, haunted corpses, and cremation grounds have in a tradition devoted to liberation?
This Halloween weekend, join us for two events exploring Buddhism’s relationship with the dead and its living traditions of ritual, culture, and performance. Come with curiosity!
Saturday, October 31 · Buddhist Necromancy An open, free online talk with Lama Fede Andino.
Explore hungry ghost offerings, the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Chöd, and tales of animated corpses. Together, we’ll consider where history meets legend—and how compassion shapes our responsibilities toward the dead.
Expect lively discussion, reflection, and a “Real, Legend, or Not Even Buddhist?” quiz. Everyone is welcome; no previous knowledge is needed.
10–11:30 AM Buenos Aires time (UTC−3) · Online · Free
Sunday, November 1 · Buddhist Ritual & Culture An afternoon at Leach Botanical Garden in Portland, Oregon.
Join Prajwal Vajracharya of Nritya Dance Mandal and Lama Sherab of the TSU for a program of Buddhist culture and performance.
1–4 PM PST · Leach Botanical Garden 6704 SE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97236
