The Waystation: September 2026 MARA ROAST!!!!!

The Waystation — September 2026

Two P1+ empowerments, one P2+ deep cut, and then we take the whole operation on the road — Mara Roast hits CDMX for a week straight, then Portland picks it up in October. September is not a slow month. Good.

If you're new here: this is a living Vajrayana lineage, not a philosophy seminar. We do the practices. Sorcery isn't a metaphor we use to make tantra sound edgy — it's what tantra actually is, and liberation is the whole point of it. If any of the vocabulary below is new to you, that's fine — start with What is Vajrayana and WTF is Tantra on the site, then come find us at one of the open talks in CDMX.

Nobody gets left behind here.

That's not a slogan, it's a policy.

This Month, Online

[P2+] Namcho Guru Vimalamitra Yoga Sat, Sept 5 · 3:00–5:00pm (GMT-3) · Zoom For P2 and above. This is deep-lineage practice — a yoga from the Namcho terma that tames gods and maras alike and drives straight through to liberation via devotion at the peak of Vajrayana. Not a beginner's room, and it isn't trying to be.

[P1+] Dudul Dorje's Akasharaja: The King of Space Sat, Sept 12 · 1:00–3:00pm ET / 2:00–5:00pm ART · Online via Google Meet · with Lama Scott Avalokiteshvara doesn't only wear the gentle face. Akasharaja is compassion with teeth — a wrathful form of the bodhisattva of compassion out of Dudul Dorje's terma, rarely given outside close lineage circles. Full transmission: abhishek, agama, upadesha. Restricted — this one requires an existing samaya connection with the lineage, typically our P1 course. Not sure if that's you? Ask before you register. We'd rather have that conversation than let you sit outside a transmission you're not yet positioned for — and there's always a next step here.

[P1+] Saraswati, Lady of Song Sat, Sept 19 · 10:00am–2:00pm PT / 2:00–6:00pm ART · Online · with Lama Josh Saraswati holds the sound before the word — speech, memory, insight, the current that makes a mind sharp enough to actually practice. This is an invocation of eloquence and clarity for anyone whose obstacle is a foggy mind rather than a closed heart. Full transmission again: abhishek, agama, upadesha, so you leave with a sadhana, not a ceremony. Restricted to P1 and above — same deal as above, talk to us first if you're unsure.

What Is Mara Roast, Anyway?

If you're new to this: Mara is the tempter, the personification of every obstacle standing between a being and liberation — doubt, desire, distraction, the whole catalog. We roast him. The name is exactly as literal and exactly as much of a pun as it sounds like, and that's the whole spirit of the thing.

It started small and informal — Lama Fede and Lama Sherab meant to meet a couple of times a week to trade teachings and empowerments back and forth, with the idea of getting everyone together in person once a year, alternating between the US and Argentina. Then the Iron Rat year hit and the in-person plan got overhauled into a virtual one overnight, like everyone else's plans did. By the Water Hare year it had grown into two synchronized in-person gatherings running at once, an ocean apart. It's kept growing and splitting since — this year it's CDMX and Portland, back to back. Both in-person and online.

What actually happens: real teachings, not survey-course summaries — paramitas, prajñaparamita, tantric astrology, mind training, Dzogchen, whatever the teacher in the room actually has to give that year. Empowerments. Ordinations — people get raised to Kalyanamitra, sometimes to Lama, in front of the community that's watched them practice. Shared meals. In Portland there's usually martial arts training thrown in, because why not. Online streaming with translation for the parts that aren't closed-door. One attendee's server in Portland warned him it was "hell up there, war-torn." He found deeply weird, deeply warm people and the best few days of his year instead — that's the actual read on this thing, every time.

This is the opportunity, not the sideshow: it's the one stretch of the year where teachings, empowerment, and plain community happen in the same room, at prices built to be an on-ramp rather than a toll booth. You don't need a P-level to show up to an open talk. You need to show up.

Mara Roast México — CDMX, Sept 24–27

A full weekend at Casa Manu, in-person and online, in Spanish and English. This is the on-ramp: come for one talk, stay for the empowerment, no prior anything required unless we say so.

  • Mindfulness y Modernidad / Mindfulness and Modernity — open talk, free · Thu Sept 24 · 6:00–8:00pm CST · with Lama Nico. Mindfulness left Buddhism, landed in an app, and something got lost on the way. This is the twenty-five-century version.

  • Las raíces indias del camino tántrico / The Indian Roots of the Tantric Path — open talk, free · Fri Sept 25 · 6:00–8:00pm CST · with Lama Fede. Tantra's real social history, out of the royal courts and the cremation grounds, not the incense-and-mystery version.

  • Introducción a la meditación / Introduction to Meditation — workshop · Sat Sept 26 · 10:00am–2:00pm CST · with Lama Nico. Hands-on: posture, working with thoughts, and an actual daily practice you can keep. No prior experience needed.

  • Pujas de Prosperidad, Salud y Protección / Pujas for Health, Wealth and Protection — puja · Sat Sept 26 · 3:00–6:00pm CST · with Lama Fede. Not a ceremony to watch from outside — you get the texts, you recite, you're part of it.

  • Iniciación de Manjushri / Manjushri Empowerment — empowerment · Sun Sept 27 · 10:00am–3:00pm CST · with Lama Nico. Full transmission of Manjushri, Buddha of Wisdom: initiation, reading transmission, instructions, and the sadhana to take home. This one carries samaya — go in knowing that.

  • Divinación: El Mö tibetano / Divination: The Tibetan Mö — workshop · Sun Sept 27 · 4:00–7:00pm CST · with Lama Fede. Dice, syllables, and a real answer to a real question — health, travel, decisions, obstacles. Needs the Manjushri initiation first; if you don't have it yet, the morning session covers you same-day.

Mara Roast Portland — Oct 2–4

México closes out and Oregon picks up the torch the following week. Yes, this is a lot of Mara Roast. That's the point.

  • A Teaching by Guru Prajwal — Fri Oct 2 · 9:00–11:00am PDT · Nritya Mandala Mahavihara + online. Opening event, and a rare one: a living voice of Newar Buddhism, the tradition that never let tantra and daily life drift apart.

  • Suchandra Guru Yoga — Fri Oct 2 · 11:15am–1:00pm PDT · Nritya Mandala + online. Open to all, no prerequisites. A guru yoga for people who won't be moving to a cave anytime soon.

  • Tse Lha Namsum Thugtik — The Heart Essence of the Three Long-Life Deities — Fri Oct 2, 3:00pm – Sat Oct 3, 6:00pm PDT · Nritya Mandala + online. Open to all. A long, healthy life isn't an indulgence — it's practice infrastructure.

  • Amulet Making / Creación de Amuletos — Sat Oct 3 · 3:00–7:00pm PDT · Nritya Mandala + online. Intention, material, consecration — and you walk out with an amulet you made and charged yourself.

  • The Journeying Workshop / Taller de Journeying — Sat Oct 3 · 7:30–9:00pm PDT · Nritya Mandala + online. Buddhist cosmology has never pretended this world is the only one. Bring a blanket; don't schedule anything demanding after.

  • Guru Yoga of the Wicha Masters — Sun Oct 4 · 9:00am–1:00pm PDT · Nritya Mandala + online. Open to all. Southeast Asian sorcerer-sages, protection and healing, discipline and respect.

That's September. Two empowerments that ask something of you, and eleven straight days across two cities that ask nothing but your attention. Either door gets you into the same room.

See you soon
