About the event

An open, free online event with Lama Fede Andino, hosted by Vajrakula.

Does the Buddha raise the dead? What place do ghosts, haunted corpses, and cremation grounds have in a tradition devoted to liberation?

This Halloween, join Lama Fede Andino for a journey through Buddhism’s relationship with the dead. We’ll explore hungry ghost offerings, the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and the practice of Chöd, alongside tales of animated corpses and Thailand’s spirit-child amulets. Together, we’ll examine where history meets legend, what the sources actually say, and how compassion shapes our responsibilities toward the dead.

Expect lively discussion, moments of reflection, and a “Real, Legend, or Not Even Buddhist?” quiz to test your assumptions. The talk explores the history and meaning of these traditions. Ritual instruction and transmission are outside its scope.

Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a Buddhist practitioner or simply curious. No previous knowledge is needed.
