Mara Roast Portland is held at Nritya Mandala Mahavihara, the Newar Buddhist temple of Guru Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya — and it opens the only way it should: with the host teaching in his own house.
Newar Buddhism is the Vajrayana of the Kathmandu Valley: a tradition where tantra never became a retreat from the world but stayed woven into family, craft, ritual, and street. Guru Prajwal carries that lineage as a vajracharya — a hereditary tantric priest — and shares it with a generosity that has made this temple a Portland treasure.
