Manjushri is usually painted as the gentle one — sword of wisdom, sitting quietly on his lotus, cutting through delusion with a smile. Black Manjushri doesn't smile. This is the wrathful face of the same wisdom: the form invoked when clarity needs to cut through something, not around it. Sorcerous practice, aimed at liberation, not spectacle.
